Gender-specific differences in the evaluation and management of chest pain

 At the 1991 Annual Meeting of the Southern Medical Association, Dr Lawrence M. Lewis and myself presented our findings of gender bias in the evaluation and management of chest pain. We found that women waited longer to receive treatment and then when diagnosed received less aggressive care.
